How to celebrate the movements of Donau?

In the design project Donau’s Motion, the river with all its organisms takes center stage. The
installation reflects the movements of Donau. It transforms its calming beauty into an interactive
experience for humans, the wild live and the wind. The project is located on the Donauinsel, the self-named Creative Playground. The installation literally floats above the surface of the water, reflecting it. The movements are caused by the wind. At the same time, people can interact with the installation and intervene in its natural movement. If
an element is pulled or pressed, a wave-like motion is projected onto the entire installation.

The design process involved a number of experiments to capture the movements of the Donau. The
truly flying object merges all the tryout learnings in an aesthetic way. The vision is to span the hanging artwork across the entire Donau. Encouraging the interplay between all organism in the Donau and its surroundings with the installation. Donau’s Motion is intended to honor the natural being of the river.
