This diploma project focuses on developing an inclusive coffee cup system through a design research approach. In collaboration with hospitals and occupational therapists, it addresses the challenges of using conventional objects in unintended, often unsafe ways. An issue highlighted in the prior research project Immovable Grace.

The project responds with an ergonomic, modular cup system tailored to different gripping abilities. Through expert interviews and observational studies, the design evolved to meet both practical and emotional needs. It aims to promote dignity, independence, and inclusion in daily routines.

Beyond usability, the cup respects the sensory and social ritual of coffee drinking. It aims to blend naturally into everyday settings without stigma, offering comfort and aesthetic quality. The project demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform everyday objects into tools of empowerment, ensuring that the simple pleasure of drinking coffee remains accessible to all, regardless of physical ability.
