“Mourning Moon” is a poignant narrative following a funeral on the moon. This project tells the story of the last Earth humans on the Moon. Meant to be temporary, their stay on the moon becomes final. The circumstances that led up to this point divide the people on the moon and they go their separate ways; dealing differently with their grief and new forming identities. When the last person born on Earth dies, it becomes a chance for the two sides to unite again as they have to deal with the passing of the last remaining tie to their old home, the Earth. The finality that loss carries with it is often devastating and changes the way we feel about ourselves and how we go on about our lives.
How do we deal with grief that is not just personal but extends to all the people around us? How do we react when we do not grief in the same ways?
