“Klang Kanal” is demonstrating the still existing liveliness of the tamed Danube channel in the form of an immersive sound installation.
In the bustling urban environment, the natural sounds of the Danube are often drowned out by the city’s noise pollution, making it difficult for people to connect to nature. By amplifying the whisper of the river using sound tubes, this project aimsto encourage us to not loose our vitality under the restrictive and estranging circumstances of city life.
The installation invites passersby along the Danube channel to take a moment of close listening, shifting their attention to the water’s flow. What is the river doing for us? What does it need? What can we give back? Asking these questions, “Klang Kanal“ advocates to re-evaluate our relationship with nature in urban environments and be reminded of our ever-lasting dependence to healthy bodies of water.
