“Building Beliefs” is a cooperative board game that challenges players to balance individual as well as collective goals. Exploring people’s susceptibility to alternative living arrangements, the game highlights the interdependencies between them and confronts them with their motivations to cooperate.
Within the spirit of Vienna’s rich social housing history, players must build a new community by constructing infrastructure and living spaces that fulfill their character’s personal needs. A dynamic scale determines whether player’s beliefs lean toward individualism or cooperation, shaping and changing the game’s winning conditions and available resources.
Exposed to different challenges throughout the game, players must decide whether to collaborate or prioritise individual success, testing their ability to align efforts and overcome obstacles. The final outcome depends on resource management, adaptability, and the willingness to work together in order to achieve shared and personal objectives.
